Eagle Nest Lodge - Fall Cleanup Quiz Answers and Pictures
1. How many feet of dock does Bryan take in in the fall, and put out in the spring every year?
982 feet
1294 feet
1435 feet
Answer:1294 feet. When we first came to Eagle Nest Lodge, we would hire the football team to help put the docks in. Now, Sue and Bryan and a dock boy can do it in a day. Here are pictures of the equipment we use. You will see Sue's brother, Dave, running the work pontoon(notice the fork lift we built on the front of the pontoon to carry the dock sections to shore) and Brandon, the Dock Boy, and Bryan working on the docks this fall. It was a cold day and the docks were icy following a few inches of snow, but we took it all in in 1 day. The right equipment makes all the difference in the world.
2. How many rolls of toilet paper did we go through this season?
400 rolls
700 rolls
900 rolls
Answer: 900 rolls. WOW.
3. How many ppounds of sheets and pillowcases did we send to the laundry this season(not including fall cleaning laundry)?
1,500 pounds
2,300 pounds
2,800 pounds
Answer: 2,800 pounds! That's almost a ton and a half!!
What else do we do?
The dishes and pots and pans and silverware are brought to the lodge for a thorough scrubbing and inventory check.
The water is drained out of all cabins but 7 & 16. The heat is turned off and windows covered to prevent fading.
The docks come out and spend the winter on the beach.
The grills are power-sprayed and stored in the camper shower.
The green plastic deck furniture is cleaned and stored in Cabin 4.
Then we take a breath and tackle our own house and the disaster in the office after a very busy season and fall.
