Holiday Recipe
We wanted to share one of our favorite recipes with you. It’s our Swedish Meatballs recipe...a favorite for Christmas!
2lbs ground beef
1lbs ground pork
2 eggs -beaten
1 cup mashed potatoes
1 cup dry bread crumbs
1 tsp brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp each: pepper, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, allspice
1 cup milk
1 pint cream for gravy
Mix together to make a soft dough that can barely be handled. Form into small balls and roll in flour. Fry on all sides in a small amount of hot fat or butter until brown. Pour over the meat balls 1 pint cream. Cover and let simmer slowly until the meat is tender, about 30 minutes. Or they may be covered and baked in a slow oven, 325 degrees, for about 40 minutes. The cream makes a rich, deliciously flavored gravy.
Have a wonderful Christmas!
